Photography during COVID
During these hard times many things have changed. social interaction is kept at a minimum, hygiene is now one of the most important parts of school day to day run ins and everyone is more conscious about other peoples activities. in school we now have to stick to our certain zones and stand in certain lines, and we are escorted to and from classrooms and face coverings are mandatory. there are many things that we are not allowed to do because of this virus but we always find a way to still do fun things.
Marcel Duchamp and the Readymade
- The fact that people don't know who she is is intriguing to the curious mind.
- Marcel Duchamp took a post card of the Mona Lisa and added a few little details such as a moustache and beard and a glyphs.
- L.H.O.O.Q. means "she has a hot ass" he made fun of the painting as it resembles an emotionless person so he wanted to lighten it up a bit
- it is a readymade as he took a picture that someone had created and just added a few little things to it.
Kensuke Koike
He is a contemporary visual artist who takes black and white images and adds his flair to it. Kensuke Koike takes images cuts things out of it and switches them around to make them look strange.

Hannah Höch's 'Beautiful Girl'
In the middle part of the bottom left of the collage I can see a woman holding an umbrella but instead of having a normal head she has a lightbulb. In the top right-hand corner, I can see a woman's head with an enlarged eye. Underneath the head are a lot of BMW logos. Next to the head is a 1920s women's hairdo which has the other parts of it such as the face removed. Coming out of the right side of the hairdo is a hand from the wrist down holding a pocket watch. Underneath the hairdo is a cover of a car magazine. At the bottom left with the lady holding an umbrella it seems that she is sitting on a barrier or the side of a bridge. On the left-hand side of the woman is a tyre with an unknown thing inside of it and on the right-hand side of her is a piston. The artist has made the piston look like it is a leg. The part that stands out the most to me is the lightbulb as it is the brightest part of the picture and it hasn’t yellowed like the other parts.
I would describe the non-human parts of the picture as mechanical. There are things such as a tyre, a piston and BMW logos which suggest they are to do with mechanical objects.
The title seems like it is ironic as when you hear “the beautiful girl” you don’t expect to see what the artist has done you think of something completely different
